Life study

It's been a while since I have posted a portrait because it's been a while since I have painted one. This was a joy to paint and it felt good to see my friends at the Tuesday portrait group. Life and work have a way of interrupting these pleasures! But we all know this difficulty.

Good painting! I love the canvas showing through and all the delicate soft edges, especially in the hair. What colors did you use in the flesh tone

Hi Danny! It was a good session wasn't it? Your presence really lightened up the place. It's always a pleasure working with you. Great Web site btw.

Hi David, thanks! My palette consists of a warm and cool of the primaries plus black once in a while (very little of it). In this case, it was a combination of cad lemon yellow, cad yellow, permanent red medium, titanium white. Then the appropriate amount of cools to mute ever so subtly. Hope that helps!

Hi Ginger! Thanks for stopping by. Yes, it was great to get back there. And of course it's always a pleasure to paint and draw you. I checked out your site, very nice. And very LOADED. A lot to see. See ya soon.
