Live Wire

14x18
Oil/masonite
Studio painting

I always thought this perspective (even though only a portion of it is showing) of my old watering hole would make a good painting some day. I finally got around to it. This place was a every weekend destination when I first moved to San Diego 15 years ago. Wow, how time flies. I always was fascinated with the sign and found it a delight to paint. This painting will be in the San Diego County Fair starting in mid June.

This painting has a sense of playfulness and movement.
I like the geometric, repetitive shapes that keep your eye moving throughout the painting.

Thanks a lot Jennifer. It was quite a challenge for such a small piece. Fun though!

Hey, I know that place, it's on El Cajon Blvd! Well done, I always liked that old liquor store sign.

Hi Danny!
Long time no hear - hope you have been painting up a storm -I love this Live Wire - we still haven't forgotten our wish to buy one of your paintings, is this one for sale? I have been thinking of painting another Liquor Store over on University ave - the Happy Daze!

I just started a painting under the Coronado Bridge of the tugboat repair dock - you would love this spot if you haven't already painted it. Let's have coffee and catch up sometime... I have a bunch of new work I posted to my site as well - you might find interesting. Take it easy.

Hey Danny I used to go to that bar too. I like the freedom and looseness of your portraits. I just started posting some of my plein air watercolors on Kevinliddell.com I have a pile of them. congrats on the scholarships.
